RYA
Instructor Course (6 days)
This course is for the experienced dinghy sailor who is hoping to attain
their RYA Dinghy Instructor certificate. Before going on the instructor
course you must be at least 16 years old and have passed your ‘pre-entry’
assessment. The course lasts 6 days (Mon-Sat) and is designed to develop
your understanding of the teaching techniques used within the RYA
framework. The course is run by Derek, an RYA Coach Assessor and is
moderated on the final day by an external Coach Assessor.
You will be
staying in one of the lodges with other course members which
will provide the opportunity for discussion and further study in the
evenings as required. Be prepared
to work hard during the week. The
syllabus is extensive and there is a lot of preparation required before the
external examination on the Saturday.
We will utilise every spare moment we have.
Before finally qualifying you must hold a recognised First Aid
Certificate, an RYA Level 2 Powerboat Certificate (best completed before
the course) and successfully complete the RYA Instructor Course.
Due to the tidal location of Tighnabruaich
Sailing School, successful candidates will also gain their coastal
endorsement to the Instructor award.
