YOUTH COURSES
Our exceptional courses for young students follow the
RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. The sheltered waters of the
Kyles of Bute are an ideal environment. We provide
instruction for small numbers (approx 20), ensuring that
each child has individual time to develop their sailing.
Our self contained site and our promise to keep
numbers small ensure safety and supervision are
maintained to the highest standard.
Our youth courses are approached with the emphasis
on fun, improving sailing techniques in a relaxed and
stimulating environment. You will be surprised at just
how much can be learnt in a week.
Whether a beginner or experienced dinghy sailor, we
are confident that students will not be disappointed. On
Friday we like to offer an extra special challenge.
Weather dependent, we will take them on a full day
expedition where they can put all their hard earned
knowledge into practice. They will be well drilled in
personal safety as well as being introduced to basic chart work. Involvement in the decision making
process will increase confidence in sailing and the ability to work in a group.
Our sheltered location ensures that we are rarely kept off the water, however we can work in the chart
room should the weather deteriorate. The theory syllabus includes for example; tides, weather, basic
chart work and ropework.
Residential students stay in our 3 bedroomed bunk house which accommodates up to ten with 24
hour supervised care. They enjoy home-made evening meals made with organic ingredients where
possible. The small group size ensures that each child can feel at ease and have the confidence to
get the most out of their stay.
Carry Farm has plenty of space for the children to enjoy. Evenings are filled with weather appropriate
activities such as beach bonfires, rounders, trips to sandy beaches and paddle races. Wet weather
has everyone inside relaxing with age appropriate games.
